Interior Minister Nicos Nouris updated the participants in the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe on the progress made on the implementation of the reform of local government in Cyprus.
Speaking through teleconference during the Congress, which takes place in Strasbourg, Nouris said that the implementation of the reforms will satisfy the main and most important recommendations of the Congress, based also on the latest 2021 report.
The recommendations included, inter alia, the strengthening of the role and institutional autonomy of local authorities, the provision of adequate financial means and the establishment of transparent and predictable financial mechanisms.
