Cyprus – Bahrain bilateral relations confirmed at a meeting in Nicosia

Political discussions were held between Cyprus and the Kingdom of Bahrain on Tuesday in Nicosia where the very good level of bilateral relations was confirmed and the FM noting that Bahrain is important for the region.

A Foreign Ministry statement issued after the discussions of Permanent Secretary Alexandros N. Zenon and Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for International Affairs, said the first round of the talks within the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries was held.

It further added that there was a review of bilateral relations and the very good level was confirmed.

The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, relations between the EU and the Gulf Cooperation Council and the situation in Turkey.

Zenon informed Sheik Al Khalifa on the trilateral cooperation agreements Cyprus has established together with Greece with countries in the region.

The Sheik was received by Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides who, in a Twitter message, wrote “I welcome to Cyprus the U/Secretary”, noting that Bahrain is important in our region,CY committed to our cooperation.
