Cyprus authorities report 2 deaths and 140 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday

Cyprus` health authorities announced on Saturday the death of a 59-year-old man and a 92-year-old woman to COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 547 and 140 new cases out of 53.472 tests with the positivity range standing at 0.26%.

At the same time, 96 people are being treated in hospitals across the island, 39 of whom are in a serious condition with 76.05% of patients with no vaccination history. Ten post-COVID patients who are no longer infectious, continue being treated in ICUs, while being intubated, in a serious condition, the Ministry of Health added.

The deaths announced concern a 59-year-old man who passed away on Friday at the ICU of Nicosia General Hospital and a 92-year-old woman who died on Saturday at Famagusta General Hospital.

Total deaths attributed to COVID-19 are 547, of whom 349 or 64% men and 198 or 36
