Cyprus and Spain to cooperate on organ donation

The issue of organ donation was discussed between the Minister of Health of Cyprus, George Pamboridis and his Spanish counterpart Dolors Montserrat, in a meeting in Spain.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, in the meeting during a working visit by the Minister of Health in Spain, the two Ministers reviewed the two countries` relations on health issues.

The issue of organ donation has been extensively discussed, since Spain maintains one of the largest and most organized organ donor records in Europe.

Health Ministers agreed that the contacts between technocrats of the two Ministries will continue in the next few months, with the aim of preparing an agreement that will provide for the exchange of expertise and cooperation between the two countries on transplantation and organ donation.

In this context, the Cypriot Minister of Health addressed an invitation to Montserrat to visit Cyprus in the coming months, which was accepted by the Spanish Minister.
