Cyprus and Greece to cooperate in training Police and Fire Department

Cyprus and Greece have signed two Protocols for cooperation between the Police Academies and Fire Departments of the two countries for the training and retraining of their members.

The Protocols for Cooperation were signed in Athens on Tuesday by Cypriot Minister of Justice and Public Order Ionas Nicolaou and Greek Alternate Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Toskas.

Speaking after the ceremony, Nicolaou said the Protocols upgraded the cooperation between Cyprus and Greece, and that the training programmes would contribute to exchanging best practices in security and firefighting. He added that the members of the Cypriot forces would gain valuable experience from their Greek colleagues.

Nicolaou pointed out that the programmes would be offered to the members of the forces based on criteria, and that the trainees would pass on their knowledge to the other members of the forces.
