Cyprus and Egypt sign an air transport agreement

In the framework of the trilateral meeting between the leaders of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt held in Cairo, on 11 October 2016, Cyprus and Egypt signed an air transport agreement which, inter alia, provides for the establishment of a multiple air carries to operate flights to and from the two countries.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr Marios Demetriades and the Minister of Civil Aviation of Egypt, Mr Sherif Fathy.

Based on the agreement, multiple air carriers will be now eligible to operate flights to and from Cyprus and Egypt, whilst the restriction applied to flights to Cyprus from eight airports in Egypt (excluding the Cairo and Alexandria airports) is lifted.

Further to the agreement, Cyprus, Egypt and Greece have approved a Joint Declaration on the maritime transport and the development of ports.
