Cypriot MPs to attend PACE Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy meeting in Athens

Leader of the delegation of the House to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Stella Kyriakides and member George Loucaides will take part in a meeting of PACE’s Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy, that will be held on Tuesday at the Hellenic Parliament in Athens, Greece.

According to a House press release, the meeting will assess the political consequences of foreign funding of Islam in Europe, discuss the establishment of a European academic network on the Anti-corruption Convention and deal with the issue of protecting and supporting the victims of terrorism.

It will also examine the situation in Syria, and its effects upon surrounding countries and discuss the compatibility of Sharia Law with the European Convention on Human Rights.

President of the Hellenic Parliament Nikolaow Voutsis will address the opening ceremony while an exchange of views will be held with Giorgos Katrougalos, Greek Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs and Dimitrios Vitsas, Greek Migration Policy Minister.
