Cypriot Minister welcomes deepening of EU Defence Cooperation

Cypriot Defence Minister Christoforos Fokaides, representing Cyprus at EU Council level, yesterday, welcomed the steps made towards the deepening of defence cooperation in Europe. The Council stressed that addressing the new threats requires the strengthening of joint defence structures. The EU 28 met under High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, to discuss the future Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), the implementation of the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO), the European Action Plan on European Defence and the development of permanent and autonomous military infrastructure for the management and control of EU civilian operations.
