Cypriot Children’s Rights Commissioner elected in CoE committee bureau

Cypriot Commissioner for Children’s Rights Leda Koursoumpa, has been elected at the Bureau of the Ad hoc Committee for the Rights of the Child (CAHENF) of the Council of Europe.

This election constitutes an honorary distinction for both the Commissioner and Cyprus, a press release issued by the Commissioner’s Office says.

The Ad Hoc Committee oversees the implementation of the Council of Europe Strategy for the Rights of the Child 2016-2021.

During the third Ad Hoc Commission meeting, held in Strasbourg, between November 22 and 24 special emphasis was placed on issues such as safeguarding childrens rights in the online environment and the protection of children travelling.

Koursoumpa was a member of the Committee of Experts and played a key role in drafting the Council of Europes Strategy on the Rights of the Child 2016-2021.
