Cypriot and Greek MPs discuss deepening of cooperation

Cypriot and Greek MPs sought ways to further deepen cooperation among universities, but also at parliamentary level regarding matters of education and culture, during a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Educational Affairs and Culture with the Committee on Cultural and Educational Affairs of the Greek Parliament, on Wednesday.

The two Committees agreed to set up a Joint Steering Committee to undertake common actions and set priorities in the field of education, address problems facing Cypriot and Greek students and Greece and Cyprus, develop actions to preserve Greek language and strengthen digitalization of Cultural Heritage, said a press release issued after the meeting.

It added that decisions were made to address problems regarding the recognition of academic degrees and that the MPs agreed to intensify actions for new educational partnerships and step up parliamentary scrutiny of the existing memoranda of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education and culture.
