We need to have transparent rules for all on EU citizenship, Katainen says

European Commission Vice President Jyrki Katainen has said that the European Commission has established an expert group to consider how to create fully transparent rules on the granting of EU citizenship from member states, in order to avoid tax evasion, money laundering or security threats. Katainen who is in Cyprus for a two-day visit, was replying to journalists’ questions during a joint press conference with Democratic Rally (DISY) President Averof Neophytou, in Nicosia.

Katainen and Angelides discuss issues of European Defence Policy

The European Defence Fund, the Military Mobility and the Permanent Structured Cooperation have been discussed between the European Commission Vice President Jyrki Katainen and the Cyprus Defence Minister Savvas Angelides. According to an official announcement, Katainen who is in Cyprus for a two-day visit, met on Monday with Angelides at the Ministry of Defence. Angelides reassured the European Commissioner for the support of Cyprus to the European Integration.

Socialist EDEK decides to run alone in next European elections

The President of the Socialist Party EDEK Marinos Sizopoulos appeared on Sunday confident that the party can and should win the 5th place, in the European Parliament elections, due next May. EDEK’s Pancyprian Conference approved on Sunday in Nicosia the party’s Political Bureau proposal to run alone in the elections. Diomides Diomidous, Christos Iacovou, Natasa Ioannou, Elias Myrianthous, Thea Nicolaou and Demetris Papadakis are the six candidates on EDEK’s ballot, which was presented officially.
