President makes efforts to make use of Guterres framework for the terms of reference

Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou has said that the President of Cyprus makes efforts so that the Guterres Framework is used in the formulation of the terms of reference for the resumption of the Cyprus talks, adding that this framework includes the six parameters of the UNSG, among which are the security issues. He said that the Guterres framework is very important for the formulation of the terms of reference, which should include the six parameters of the framework, adding that if this is not the case, then that would mean that negotiations begin from scratch and there is no guarantee that the discussion begins for the core of the Cyprus problem, which is the issues of occupation and troops, intervention rights and guarantees.

President to lay foundation stone of first private power plant

GDP in Cyprus rises 3.9% in Q4 2018

Cyprus GDP growth rate in real terms during the fourth quarter of 2018 is estimated at 4.0% over the corresponding quarter of 2017, while based on seasonally and working day adjusted data, GDP growth rate is estimated at 3.9%, according to data published Thursday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus and Eurostat. GDP in Cyprus rose by 1.1% during Q4 2018 compared to the previous quarter.

Sharp rise in companies since the Deputy Ministry was set up, says Pilides

Cyprus has seen a significant increase in the number of companies that choose the island for their operations in the shipping sector since the set up of the Deputy Ministry for Shipping, a year ago, Deputy Minister Natasa Pilides has said. Assets under management of supervised investment funds rise to Euros 6.3 billion, Cysec says

Fund management companies and undertakings of collective investments (UCIs) under supervision of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySec) increased to 174 in the fourth quarter of 2018 while total assets under management increased to Euros 6.3 billion from Euros 5.7 the previous quarter, Cysec said in a quarterly report. According to the report, of the 174 entities, 118 companies have operations, marking an increase of 18% compared to the previous quarter. The total number of companies includes, 74 externally managed UCIs, 64 internally managed UCIs and 36 external managers.

Proper waste management campaign runs in National Guard army camps

Discussions on the proper management of waste in National Guard army camps have been organised by the Ministry of Defence in cooperation with Environment Commissioner Ioanna Panayiotou, the National Guard, the Department of Environment and Green Dot. The three events were held in the framework of the awareness campaign aimed at army officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces in order to promote reducing, reusing and recycling waste at army camps.
