Nicosia expects the UNSC to express support to the resumpion of talks if a statement is issued

Nicosia expects that the UN Security Council will extend its support to the continuation of the process which is underway aiming at the resumption of the negotiations for a Cyprus settlement, if the body decides to issue a statement after its briefing on developments about the Cyprus problem on May 2nd, a government source has told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).

EU28 unemployment drops to historically low 6.4% for March 2019, and to 7.0% in Cyprus

The euro area (EA19) seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 7.7% in March 2019, down from 7.8% in February 2019 and from 8.5% in March 2018. This is the lowest rate recorded in the euro area since September 2008. The EU28 unemployment rate was 6.4% in March 2019, down from 6.5% in February 2019 and from 7.0% in March 2018. This is the lowest rate recorded in the EU28 since the start of the EU monthly unemployment series in January 2000. ?n Cyprus the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 7.0% in March 2019 (31 000 individuals 6.9% males and 7.0% females), down from 7.1% February 2019 and from 9.0% in March 2018.

80% of the NUTS 2 regions of the EU saw their unemployment fall in 2018

More than 80% of the NUTS 2 regions (Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics) of the European Union saw their unemployment rate for persons aged 15-74 fall in 2018 compared with 2017. Cyprus is considered as one and only region and all rates are identical to the national. Total unemployment rates were 11.1% in 2017 and 8.4% in 2018 for th 15-74 years old demographic and 24.7% in 2017, 20.2% in 2018 for the 15-24 years old demographic. Long-term unemployment was 40.6% in 2017 and 31.7% in 2018 for those between 15-74 years old.

Industrial Output Prices Index records increase in first three months of 2019

For the period January-March 2019, the Industrial Output Prices Index showed an increase of 4,2% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, according to the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

Household income per capita increased by 0.3% in the fourth quarter of 2018 in the Euro Area

In the euro area, in real terms, household income per capita increased by 0.3% in the fourth quarter of 2018, after an increase of 0.2% in the previous quarter, according to data released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, deriving from a detailed set of seasonally adjusted quarterly European sector accounts of Eurostat and the European Central Bank (ECB)

Sales of petroleum products up in March

The total sales of petroleum products in March 2019 recorded an increase of 6,1% compared to the previous month, according to data by the Cyprus Statistical Service.
