Katrougalos to convey message to Ankara on Cyprus, says Foreign Minister

Nicosia attaches particular importance to a forthcoming meeting between Greek Foreign Minister George Katrougalos and his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, with Cyprus’ Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides saying that Katrougalos will convey specific messages. Job vacancy rate in Cyprus drops to 1.0% during Q4 2018, up to 2.3% in the euroarea

The job vacancy rate in the euro area (EA19) was 2.3% in the fourth quarter of 2018, up from 2.1% in the third quarter of 2018 and from 2.0% in the fourth quarter of 2017, according to figures published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In Cyprus the job vanancy rate was 1.0% during Q4 2018, down from 2.3% in Q3 2018 and stable compared to Q4 of 2017 (1.0%). In Greece the same rate was 0.4% in Q4 2018, down form 0.6% in Q3 2018 and up from 0.1% in Q4 2017.

The first estimate for euro area (EA19) exports of goods to the rest of the world in January 2019 was Euros 183.4 billion, an increase of 2.5% compared with January 2018 (Euros 179.0 bn). Imports from the rest of the world stood at Euros 181.8 bn, a rise of 3.4% compared with January 2018 (Euros 175.9 bn). As a result, the euro area recorded a Euros 1.5 bn surplus in trade in goods with the rest of the world in January 2019, compared with +Euros 3.1 bn in January 2018. Intra-euro area trade rose to Euros 164.6 bn in January 2019, up by 2.4% compared with January 2018.
