President tells CNA he hopes Turkey’s stance will allow for a Cyprus solution to everyones benefit

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has told CNA that he hopes that during political consultations on the international aspect of the Cyprus problem between Turkey and Greece, in Athens on April 12, Turkey’s attitude would create the conditions for a solution to be reached to everyones benefit. President Anastasiades was replying to questions in the context of an interview he gave to the Cyprus News Agency.

UN envoy to meet with President Anastasiades on Sunday

UN Secretary-General special adviser, Jane Holl Lute will return to Cyprus on Saturday and will meet with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades on Sunday as part of the efforts to restart UN-brokered talks for the solution of the Cyprus problem. In a post on Twitter, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou said that President Anastasiades had a telephone conversation with Lute.

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades has expressed his readiness to continue the dialogue for a Cyprus settlement from where it left off in Crans Montana as a result of the non acceptance on behalf of Turkey of the parameters set out by the UN Secretary General himself.

Speaking after the Cabinet meeting, Deputy Spokeswoman Klelia Vasiliou said that the action plan is actually a two-pronged guide, setting political and administrative targets.

Lending and deposit rates rise in February, as new credit declines for a second consecutive month

Rates for the majority of the reported loans and deposits rose in February, according to data published today by the Central Bank of Cyprus. Rates for consumer credit rose to 3.37% in February from 2.83% the previous month, marking an increase of 54 basis points. The rates for loans for house purchase increased to 2.22% compared to 2.18% in January.
