We are expecting a UN SG initiative for resumption of Cyprus talks, Spokesman says

Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou has reiterated that the government wishes and expects UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres’ initiative in order for negotiations on the Cyprus problem to resume from where they left off in the Swiss resort of Crans � Montana in the summer of 2017. Prodromou was replying to journalists’ questions after a meeting at the Presidential Palace with parliamentary party leaders chaired by Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades.

Cyprus FM analyses the three main pillars of foreign policy priorities

Foreign Minister Nicos Christodoulides has analysed the three main pillars of the priorities of Cyprus’ foreign policy which are set to contribute to efforts towards a Cyprus solution, the top priority of the Republic of Cyprus. Speaking during the annual meeting of the heads of Diplomatic Missions of Cyprus abroad, Christodoulides referred to those pillars that should be promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Deputy Government Spokeswoman Klelia Vassiliou has conveyed the message that the Greek Cypriot side continues its effort for an honourable, just and viable settlement of the Cyprus problem. Speaking during a memorial service in Pelendri, Limassol, Vassiliou said we are responsibly working to end the occupation, achieve unity of the state, secure human rights and basic freedoms of all Cypriots.

CCB to pay a further Euros 2 million in interest calculation error

The state-owned Cyprus Cooperative Bank (CCB) will pay up to Euros 2 million to rectify an initial correction made to customer accounts who were excessively charged due to a mistake in interest rate calculation concerning customer loans for the period of 2008-2013, Financial Ombudsman Pavlos Ioannou told CNA.

Cyprus 13-week T-Bills of Euros 100 million auctioned

Cyprus has auctioned 13-week Treasury Bills of a value of Euros 100 million. According to a press release of the Public Debt Management Office tenders for a total amount of Euros 170 mn were submitted, out of which, Euros 100 mn total nominal value have been accepted with a weighted average yield of -0.22%.

Industrial production up in first five months of 2018

Industrial production was up by 6.3% on an annual basis in May and by 5% in the first five months of 2018, data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service show. The Index of Industrial Production for May 2018 reached 130.2 units (base 2015=100), recording an increase of 6.3% compared to May 2017.
