House Plenary begins discussion on State Budget

The House of Representatives convenes in a plenary session on Wednesday to begin a three-day discussion on the State Budget for 2019. The annual meeting will be preceded by a plenary to discuss the proposed bill for a reduction in consumer tax on fuel.

The parties in Cyprus should engage with the UN Secretary Generals envoy Jane Holl Lute in a creative and constructive manner, recognising that the outcome will be critical in determining the future of the Cyprus negotiations, the UNSGs Deputy Special Adviser and Special Representative in Cyprus Elizabeth Spehar said on Tuesday evening, just a few days before Lutes arrival to Cyprus, to meet with Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades, and Turkish Cypriot leader, Mustafa Akinci. Meanwhile, CNA has learned that arrangements are underway so that the UNSG’s envoy Jane Holl Lute will hold a meeting at the Turkish Foreign Ministry on Thursday or Friday.

Foreign Minister raises Cyprus concerns on next EU MFF size and financing, during GAC meeting

Cyprus Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides raised concerns on Tuesday about the increase of the size (at 1.11% of EU GDP) and the new financing instruments of the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027, during General Affairs Council meeting in Brussels.
