Government strongly condemns Turkeys new attempt for illegal drilling

The Government of the Republic of Cyprus strongly condemns Turkey’s new attempt to illegally conduct drilling operations in the east of Cyprus, close to the Karpasia peninsula, within the Territorial Sea of the Republic. Meanwhile, EU High Representative Federica Mogherini warned Turkey over its intended new drilling operation, while EU Commissioner for enlargement Johannes Hahn said the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean requires urgent deescalation and Russia noted it is following developments with concern. Furthermore, Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides and his Swiss counterpart, Ignazio Cassis, will discuss the issue on Tuesday in Nicosia.

Swiss FM visits CMP anthropological lab

Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Ignazio Cassis, who is paying a working visit to Cyprus, visited on Monday the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) anthropological laboratory. “When the beloved are never found there is no peace. Thanks to the Committee on Missing Persons helping families and communities in Cyprus,” Cassis said on his Twitter account, where he posted a photo from his visit to the laboratory.
