Cyprus Parliament to host the Tripartite Meeting between House Presidents of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt

Cyprus House of Representatives will host on Monday February 11, the 1st Tripartite Meeting of the Presidents of the Parliaments of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt. The meeting will be attended by Cyprus House President Demetris Syllouris, President of the Hellenic Parliament Nikolaos Voutsis and the President of the House of Representatives of Egypt Dr Ali Abdel Aal, accompanied by a three-member parliamentary delegation.

Cyprus GDP expected to grow by 3.8%, 3.3% and 2.7% for 2018, 2019 and 2020 according to EC winter forecast

Cyprus GDP growth is expected to reach 3.8% in 2018 following 4.2% in 2017, according to the winter interim economic forecast, issued today by the European Commission. According to the forecast GDP growth is expected at 3.3% in 2019 and 2.7% in 2020. Meanwhile inflation is expected at 0.8% for 2018, 0.7% for 2019 and 1.2% for 2020. In 2019 and 2020, growth is projected to slow down to 3.3% and 2.7%, due to the less favourable external environment. “Slowing growth in the euro area and persistent uncertainties in major trading partners weigh on Cyprus’ outlook and increase downside risks”, warns the European Commission.

House President and Serbian Ambassador reaffirm excellent relations between both countries

President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris received on Wednesday Ambassador of Serbia in Cyprus, Marko Blagojevic. A press release by the Parliament says that during the meeting they reaffirmed the excellent relations between the two countries and expressed their willingness to continue the cooperation between the Parliaments of Cyprus and Serbia, including further exchange of visits on various levels.

Cyprus and Oman agree to speed up procedures to conclude drafting of interstate agreements

Cyprus and Oman have agreed to speed up procedures to conclude drafting of interstate agreements that are under negotiation and to intensify contacts at various levels. The decision was taken after talks between Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides and Omans Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah. Christodoulides is in Oman on an official visit at the invitation of Abdullah.

House President travels to Geneva for preparatory meeting for Fifth World Conference of Speakers

President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris departs on Thursday for Geneva to participate in the preparatory meeting for the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament that will take place in 2020.
