President to address the people of Cyprus Tuesday over decentralized federation proposal

The President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades is expected to address the people on Tuesday regarding his proposal for a decentralized federation as a form of settlement. Instead of 12.00 noon, the President’s press conference was set for 19.30 local time (15.30 GMT), at the Cabinet room. President Anastasiades is expected to refer to his proposal for a decentralized federation, in the presence of media representatives from TV stations, newspapers and the Cyprus News Agency.

Foreign Minister in USA for meeting with Secretary of State

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulides will be flying to Washington, United States, late on Monday for a visit, at the invitation of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, with whom he is scheduled to meet on Tuesday. During a meeting on Monday, Foreign Ministers of Cyprus, Greece and Jordan decided to meet in Cyprus next December to prepare a trilateral meeting of the heads of state, taking place early 2019 in Jordan.

Registered unemployed persons in Cyprus decline to a nine-year low

The number of the unemployed persons registered at the District Labour Offices in October declined to the lowest level of the last nine years, data released on Monday by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) show. According to Cystat, the number of the registered unemployed in October declined to 20,447, a new low point since November 2009. Inflation in October declined marginally to 3% compared with the respective period of 2017, according to the Cyprus Statistical Service.
