Syllouris and Zhang reaffirm Cyprus � China close ties

President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris and China’s Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Peoples Congress Zhang Dejiang reaffirmed on Thursday the long � standing and close ties of friendship between Cyprus and China, a press release from the Parliament said.

Cyprus and Bulgaria to further deepen their cooperation, Ambassador tells CNA, in view of Radevs official visit

President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, whose country will assume the EU rotating Presidency on January 1st, 2018, will pay an official visit to Cyprus on November 27 and 28. During his visit he will hold talks with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, and as the Ambassador of Bulgaria in Cyprus, Hristo Georgiev, has told CNA, bilateral agreements are expected to be signed in the areas of merchant shipping, education, culture and science, “that will significantly contribute to the further expansion and deepening of our bilateral cooperation.”

New Zealand Governor-General reiterates her country’s support to a Cyprus settlement

New Zealand Governor-General Patsy Reddy has reiterated her country’s support to a settlement of the Cyprus problem, strongly commending the firm commitment of Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades to the Cyprus talks. According to a PIO press release, the new High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to New Zealand, Martha A. Mavrommatis, presented her Letters of Credence to Reddy and conveyed the greetings of President Anastasiades, and wishes for progress and well-being to the Governor-General, the Government and the people of New Zealand.

President of Tajikistan stresses need for further development of ties with Cyprus

President of Tajikistan has stressed the need for further development of bilateral ties with Cyprus, especially in the fields of economy and tourism. President Emomali Rahmon was speaking at the ceremony during which Ambassador of the Republic Cyprus to the Russian Federation, Leonidas S. Markides, presented his credentials as the new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Tajikistan.

Defence Minister to participate in the Intergovernmental Greece-Cyprus Council of Defence

Cyprus Defence Minister Christoforos Phokaidis will participate in the Intergovernmental Council of Defence of Greece and Cyprus, which will take place on Friday in Athens. The Ministers of Defence of the two countries, the Chiefs of the Armies and the Permanent Secretaries of the two Ministries participate in the Council.

Education Minister highlights need for action to promote sustainable development

Action needs to be taken, in order for the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to respond to the needs of the international community for social, financial, ecological and political sustainability, Costas Kadis, the Minister of Education and Culture, said on Thursday. Addressing the 1st Meeting of the Mediterranean ESD Committee, in Nicosia, the Minister also added that this is a priority area for Cyprus.

Project completion ceremony of conservation works by the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage in Paphos

Conservation works at the mosques of Agios Nicolaos and Agios Ioannis in Paphos district, on the southwest of Cyprus were presented on Thursday, by the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage, the European Commission and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
