FM to brief EUs chief Brexit negotiator about Turkish provocations
Foreign Minister, Nikos Christodoulides, will brief EUs chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, about Turkey’s illegal actions in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Cyprus and the discussion in the EU on the need for collective reaction to Turkish provocations. Barnier will be paying a working visit to Cyprus on Monday.

The Republic of Cyprus is taking appropriate action in response to Turkey’s attempt to mislead the international community by justifying its illegal actions in the sea, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou said on Saturday in a written statement concerning allegations in a letter sent by Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu to the EU and the permanent members of the UN Security Council about Turkey’s drilling activities in the eastern Mediterranean.
President unveils peace and tolerance monument in Limassol
President Nicos Anastasiades unveiled a monument on Saturday dedicated to peace and tolerance in Agios Tychonas, Limassol, on the southern coast of Cyprus. The monument will remind us of Cyprus’ decisive role in promoting peace, security and international cooperation in our region. But most importantly, it symbolizes our tireless efforts to find a comprehensive and viable solution that will reunite our island, said President Anastasiades at the event.
FM says reunification becomes more difficult with the passage of time
Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulides has said that the passage of time creates faits accomplis, making Cyprus’ reunification more difficult. Addressing the inauguration of Turkish Cypriot artist Amit Inatci’s painting exhibition Famagusta Obscura, at the Famagusta Municipality Cultural Centre, in Dherynia, Christodoulides noted that the status quo is not the solution of the Cyprus problem.
Finance Minister satisfied with confirmation of Cyprus’ credit rating by DBRS
Finance Minister, Harris Georgiades, said on Sunday that the confirmation of Cyprus’ credit rating by Canadian rating agency DBRS was a positive development. DBRS confirmed on Saturday Cyprus’s Long-Term Foreign and Local Currency at BBB (low) with a stable trend. We reached investment grade a few months ago, this positive rating has been confirmed and it’s obviously a positive development, it satisfies us but does not make us complacent because this effort must continue, Georgiades told the media in Limassol.
