President Anastasiades arrives in Sharm el Sheikh for EU-Arab League Summit

President Nicos Anastasiades arrived this morning at the Egyptian resort of Sharm el Sheikh to participate in the first EU-Arab Leauge Summit. The President, who is accompanied by Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou, was welcomed at the airport by Minister of Environment Yiasmine Fouad and was received by the President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. The EU-League of Arab States (LAS) summit will bring together for the first time, heads of state or government from both sides.

UN makes demarches to Turkish army on fresh violations of status quo in Strovilia

The United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) has investigated the recent actions by the Turkish occupying army in Strovilia and has officially recorded that these actions represent new violations of the military status quo in the area. UNFICYP has made demarches to the Turkish occupation forces, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, following press reports on the matter.

Interior Minister underlines Cyprus role in EU-Arab relations

Interior Minister Constantinos Petrides has underlined Cyprus role in the EU-Arab relations, pointing out that because of its location and the trilateral cooperation with countries in the region, Cyprus can promote security and stability. The Minister delivered a speech Friday evening during a twinning ceremony between Paphos, on the southwest of Cyprus, and Alexandria, Egypt. The event was attended by Paphos mayor Phedonas Phedonos, Alexandria Governor Abdel-Aziz Qonsowa and Egypt Ambassador Mai Khalil.
