Nicosia ready to deal with Turkeys illegal drilling in Cyprus EEZ, says government

Nicosia has said it is ready to address Ankaras designs in its Exclusive Economic Zone, in a calm, serious and effective manner. “We are ready to face Turkeys threats and plans for illegal drilling in Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone, as we have done so far, in an effective and cool manner,” Deputy Government Spokesman Victoras Papadopoulos has said, invited to comment on the fact that Turkey is moving ahead with its plans in Block 6 of Cyprus’ EEZ and has already issued an illegitimate Navtex.

Greek FM: Discussion on occupation-intervention rights in Cyprus a great diplomatic success

Cyprus, Greece and Egypt sign cooperation protocol on diaspora project

Cyprus, Greece and Egypt signed on Tuesday a cooperation protocol on the project ?ostos, the Return, to be held in Alexandria, Egypt in March that aims to bring back to the Egyptian city Cypriots and Greeks who used to live there in the past. The project is an initiative of the Minister of Minister of Immigration and Expatriates Affairs of Egypt Nabila Makram.

A total of 10,473 new voters registered to vote in 2018 presidential elections

A total of 10,473 new voters have applied to register in the electoral roll in view of the forthcoming presidential elections next month. Head of the Election Service and Deputy Chief Returning Officer Demetris Demetriou also told CNA that 12,517 people expressed their interest to vote abroad.

IFJ condemns Turkey’s actions to suppress press freedom in Cyprus

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has condemned a campaign against Afrika newspaper in the Turkish occupied areas of Cyprus by Turkish authorities. Peace NGOs from Greece, Turkey and Cyprus support solution based on international law

The Peace Committee of Turkey, the Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace, and the Cyprus Peace Council have reiterated their support for a solution of the Cyprus problem based on international law. In a press release the Cyprus Peace Council said the three NGOs held successfully their 8th trilateral meeting on 15-17th December 2017, in Izmir, Turkey under the auspices of the World Peace Council.

Eurobarometer: Support for the single currency hits record high in the EU since 2004

Close to three-quarters of respondents are for the euro (74%, +1 percentage point since spring 2017) in the euro area, according to the first results of the autumn Standard Eurobarometer. Support for the Euro increased in Cyprus to 67%( +7), and a positive image for the EU is gaining ground (Cyprus 35%, +7), but at the same time Cypriots still tend not to trust the EU (by 57%).

Hourly labour costs increase by 1.6% in the euroarea and by 1.3% in Cyprus for Q3 2017

Hourly labour costs rose by 1.6% in the euro area (EA19), by 2.1% in the EU28 and by 1.3% in Cyprus in the third quarter of 2017, compared with the same quarter of the previous year. In the second quarter of 2017, hourly labour costs increased by 1.8% and 2.3% in the euro area and the EU28 respectively, and by 0.9% in Cyprus.

CNA to acquire new platform for news management

The Cyprus News Agency (CNA) has signed an agreement with the Athens Technology Center (ATC) to install the newsasset agency platform to cover its day-to-day news management and editorial activities, as well as their commercial exploitation through subscription services.The newsasset platform will support the Agencys news management and distribution process as a whole, while at the same time streamlining all internal workflows.
