President Anastasiades to attend EU-League of Arab States summit in Sharm El-Sheikh

President Nicos Anastasiades will attend the EU-League of Arab States (LAS) summit that will take place on February 24 and 25 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. Government Spokesman, Prodromos Prodromou, said in a written statement that this is an important summit that will bring together for the first time heads of state or government from both sides. President Donald Tusk will co-chair the meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

FinMin speaks of strong confidence confirmation as Cyprus raises Euros 1 billion in first 15-year bond

Finance Minister Harris Georgiades has spoken of a confirmation of strong confidence on Tuesday after Cyprus raised Euros 1 billion in its first 15-year Treasury bill auction in history. There was an 8 to 1 bid to cover ratio, as total offers received reached Euros 8 billion, with a yield of 2.75%.

State-owned KEDIPES generates income of Euros 101 ml in first four months of operation

Cyprus Asset Management Company’s (KEDIPES) generated income of 101 million Euros in the first four months of operation of the state-owned asset manager, established following the sale of the former Cyprus Cooperative Bank to Hellenic Bank. KEDIPES was established as a 100% subsidiary of the CCB to manage the non-performing loans, real estate and other assets amounting to Euros 8.2 billion that were not part of the transfer to Hellenic Bank, among which non-performing loans amounting to Euros 7.4 billion.

European elections estimated to cost Euros 3.5 million

The Ministry of Interior has budgeted a sum of Euros 3.5 million to cover the cost of the upcoming European elections of May 26 and the central elections service is continuing its preparations whilst waiting for a recent legislation passed by parliament, which would increase the cost, to be referred back to the legislative body, head of the department Demetris Demetriou has told CNA.
