Transport Minister says the aim is for Cyprus to become an aviation junction

The government’s aim is for Cyprus to become a modern aviation junction, Minister for Transport, Communications and Works Vasiliki Anastasiadou said on Thursday, adding that her Ministry was ready to contribute in order for Cyprus to advance even further. Speaking in the framework of the Cyprus Aviation Symposium 2018 in Larnaca, Anastasiadou said much has already been achieved in the field of aviation but noted there was still room for improvement.

Conservation works complete in two historic churches in Famagusta

A ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 26, in Turkish-occupied Famagusta to mark the completion of conservation works in two historic churches, located in the northwestern part of the walled city. Works at St. Mary of the Armenians Church and the Carmelite Church were fully funded by the European Commission and were implemented by the UNDP, in partnership with the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage.

Tourist arrivals record increase between January – April, number of Cyprus residents traveling abroad in April decreased

Tourist arrivals for the period of January-April 2018 totaled 683.581 compared to 572.024 in the corresponding period of 2017, recording an increase of 19,5% and outnumbering the total arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the first four months of the year, according to data released on Thursday by the Statistical Service.

World scientists participate in International Climate Change Conference that begins today in Nicosia

The International Conference on Climate Change in the Mediterranean and the Middle East: Challenges and Solutions begins today in Nicosia, with the participation of world scientists from 35 countries. The Conference is organized by the Cyprus Institute (CyI) and is under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, with support from the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus.

Research in Cyprus sees rapid growth, Dr Tsakalos tells CNA ahead of Innovation Week

Over the last 20 years, research in Cyprus has seen a rapid growth, Dr Vasilios Tsakalos, Director General of the Research Promotion Foundation has told CNA, adding that Cyprus ranks first in the EU as regards the per capita absorption of funds for research and innovation. He gave an interview to the Cyprus News Agency on the occasion of the Research and Innovation Week that begins on May 19th.
