Cyprus greatly values deep-rooted relations with Russia, President Anastasiades says

Cyprus and Russia share a historic relationship characterized by deep-rooted friendship between our people and mutually beneficial collaborations which we greatly value, in the fields of economy, investment, trade and tourism, President Nicos Anastasiades has said. Addressing Saturday evening the 13th Cyprus-Russian Festival at the coastal city of Limassol, the President said that the Russian community residing in Cyprus, as well as the Russian Business Community, have been displaying a vote of confidence, trust and faith to Cyprus and its financial and economic system, particularly during the difficult economic times we endured following the Eurogroup Agreement of March 2013.

President Nicos Anastasiades vowed on Saturday that the national health system (GESY) will be implemented within the deadlines agreed following the voting by the Parliament of the bills, even if some do not want it to happen and they oppose. The President inaugurated the Regional Health Centre Maximos Michaelides at the village of Pachna, in the Limassol District.

Justice Minister to attend Justice and Home Affairs Council in Luxembourg

Justice Minister Ionas Nikolaou travels to Luxembourg on Sunday to attend the Justice and Home Affairs Council, the last Council of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Ministers will discuss the proposal for a directive on the sales of goods. In October 2017, the Commission submitted an amended proposal to extend the scope of the directive to cover offline sales as well. They will also review the so-called Brussels IIa regulation on cross border parental responsibility issues.

Cypriot American Community youth to organize an event for the 44th anniversary of the Turkish invasion

The Cypriot American Community in spite of its small numbers – of 50,000 members � has been very active and is in the forefront of the struggle in America, for not only the Cyprus problem, but all the Greek national issues. But it is also recognized by its leadership that frustration and sometimes fatigue influences the older generation, while the participation of the younger generation is small. During an open discussion organized last year by the Federation of Cypriot American Organizations it was pointed out � among other things � that young Cypriot Americans don’t know much about the Cyprus problem and thus they are reluctant to participate.
