Man wanted by Germany for terrorist action arrested in Cyprus

A person against whom a criminal prosecution for terrorist action is pending before a German court has been arrested on the basis of a European arrest warrant and deportation order submitted to the Cypriot authorities, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou has announced. ?he arrested person is of Kurdish origin and Turkish Citizenship and he has been recognised in the past as a political refugee possessing Cypriot travel documents.

House President to address International Higher Education Forum in London

House of Representatives President, Dimitris Syllouris, will travel to London on Tuesday, 26 March, to address the International Higher Education Forum 2019, at the invitation of the organiser, Universities UK International. The Forum will take place on 27 March at Imperial College. During his stay in London, Syllouris will hold separate meetings with UK officials and on Friday he will travel to Monaco to pay an official visit.

Spokesman says 6th post program review confirms government’s orientation

Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou has said that the remarks of the 6th Post Program Review on the need to continue with reforms are absolutely correct and confirm the wider orientation of the President and the government. European Commission staff, in liaison with staff from the European Central Bank, visited Cyprus from 18 to 22 March to conduct the sixth post-programme surveillance (PPS) mission.

House plenary convenes in extraordinary meeting to debate report on collapse of CCB

The plenary of the House of Representatives will debate the report of the investigative committee on the collapse of the Cyprus Cooperative Bank (CCB). President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris has called an extraordinary meeting of the plenary on 4 April to debate the report. The transfer agreement regarding the acquisition of CCB assets and liabilities by the Hellenic Bank, which was concluded on 14 December, 2018, was also placed before the Parliament on 21 March, by Minister of Finance Harris Georgiades.
