Cyprus had no participation in Syria military operation

Cyprus had no participation in the military operation on specific targets in Syria, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou has said in a written statement on Saturday, noting that Cyprus’ airspace has not been used nor has Nicosia’s FIR or its air corridors been affected. Prodromou also expresses the hope that dangers in the neighbouring country will from now on be dealt with by peaceful means and through dialogue.

Our goal is the resumption of Cyprus talks, Spokesman says

The resumption of talks for the reunification of Cyprus is the goal of the Greek Cypriot side, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou has said, noting that Mondays dinner between Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci is a positive development. The Government has a comprehensive strategy to address and eliminate risks to flight safety in Nicosia FIR resulting from Turkey’s continuous illegal actions, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromos said on Friday, on the sidelines of a seminar on flights safety organized by the Mediterranean Flight Safety Foundation and the European Association of Aviation Training Organsiations. On flight safety risks in possible war operations in the wider region of Cyprus, he said that although there were concerns, there was also supervision and the necessary preventive measures for the safe continuation of flights are being taken.

Cyprus registers -Euros 0.8 trade deficit for January – February 2018

Cyprus registered a total export value of Euros 0.4 billion in the first two months of 2018, an increase of 10% compared to the same period of 2017, according to Eurostat the statistical service of the EU on Friday. Commonwealth Games: Cyprus secures two more bronze medals in discus throw and wrestling

Cypriot discus throw champion Apostolos Parellis won bronze in the Commonwealth Games, at Gold Coast, launching his discus at 63.61m in the finals. Parellis is the first Cypriot track and field athlete to win a medal in Gold Coast. Moreover, 24-year-old Alexandros Kaouslidis came third in wrestling mens freestyle 97kg and became the first Cypriot athlete to win a Commonwealth Games medal in wrestling since 1994.
