UN initiative on Cyprus may be anticipated, says Government Spokesman

Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou has said on Monday that initiatives on the part of the United Nations may be expected.

In statements at the Presidential Palace, asked about developments concerning the Cyprus problem, he said what can be expected next are some initiatives on the part of the UN. House President Demetris Syllouris expressed hope that a resolution to be adopted by the European Parliament will reflect the seriousness of the Turkish provocations in Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). Syllouris participates in the Conference of Speakers of the European Union Parliaments that takes places in Tallin, Estonia.

MFA Permanent Secretary to represent Cyprus in 2nd “Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region” Conference

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Minas Hadjimichael, will travel to Brussels on Tuesday to represent the Republic of Cyprus in the 2nd “Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region” Conference, which takes place on April 24-25.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Conference is jointly organized by the United Nations and the European Union.

Over 40,000 volunteers participating in Let’s do it Cyprus!

With participations so far reaching 43,000 volunteers, Let’s do it Cyprus! is set to begin on Sunday, April 29, in Nicosia, to clean up Cyprus for yet another year.

Let’s do it Cyprus! began participating in the international campaign in 2012, with about 4,000 volunteers, reaching 35,500 in 2017.
