President Anastasiades departs for Alexandria to launch “Nostos The Return” initiative

President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades departs for Alexandria, Egypt, on Monday to launch, on the same day, the Nostos The Return initiative together with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos. From April 30 to May 6, 2018, the Egyptian government will host a group of second and third generation Egyptians who live in Greece and Cyprus to pay a visit to various sites in Alexandria, Cairo, El Alamein, Saint Catherines Monastery and Sharm El Sheikh.

Cyprus should become a normal state, says Deputy Government Spokeswoman

Deputy Government Spokeswoman Klelia Vassiliou has said that the common aim should be for Cyprus to become a normal state, just like the UN Secretary General had said. Speaking at the funeral in Limassol of the remains of Aristides Agioplasti from Lapithos, who was missing since the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus and whose remains have been found and identified, Vassiliou said ascertaining the fate of the missing persons and a solution to the Cyprus problem, that reunites the island and ends the occupation, is the government’s top priority.
