Cyprus President calls for measures against Turkey if it starts putting down preconditions for the Cyprus talks

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades said measures should at last be taken against Turkey that has started putting down preconditions to take part in a dialogue to solve the Cyprus problem. Speaking to reporters on Monday after the doxology at St. John’s Cathedral in Nicosia to mark the Greek Oxi Day, the President further added that in the negotiations, any issues concerning the internal aspects of the Cyprus problem will be dealt by the leaders of the two communities.

Greece and Cyprus to continue efforts in accord to free the island, Greek officlal says

Greece’s Deputy Minister of National Defence, General Alkiviadis Stefanis, said Cyprus and Greece will continue to fight in accord until the island is freed, without guarantees and occupation armies.

Speaking after the doxology at St. John’s Cathedral in Nicosia to honour the anniversary of the Oxi Day, Stefanis said we honour the fight of Greeks against the forces of fascism adding that many Cypriot volunteers also sacrificed their lives fighting along Greeks.

President Anastasiades to address 4th Euro-Arab summit in Athens

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades departs for Athens on Tuesday to take part in the deliberations of the 4th Euro-Arab summit entitled A Strategic Partnership from 29-30 October 2019. In the Greek capital, Anastasiades will hold separate meetings with the President and Prime Minister and the opposition leader to discuss developments on the Cyprus problem, a presidency statement said.

Cyprus to host World Federation of Tourist Guide Association course in November

Cyprus will host from the 3 – 17 November, a Course of the World Federation of Tourist Guide Association (WFTGA), with the participation of delegates from Mexico, Bulgaria, Denmark, UK/Scotland, USA (Washington) Canada (Montreal) Greece, Cyprus, Germany, Peru, Iran, Thailand and the Philippines.

Yellow warning for thunderstorm issued

A yellow warning for thunderstorms has been issued by the Cyprus Department of Meteorology.

The warning is valid from 0700 until 1700 local time (0500-1500 GMT). Isolated heavy thunderstorms are expected to affect the area with the rate of precipitation ranging between 35 and 55 millimeters per hour. Hail is also likely.
