Negotiations to indicate whether Turkey will allow an agreement between Cypriots, government says

Government Spokesman, Prodromos Prodromou, has said that when negotiations for Cyprus resume, what must become evident is whether Turkey has decided to allow an agreement between Cypriots and not to be involved in Cyprus affairs. In remarks to journalists on the sidelines of a memorial service for the people of Spilia-Kourdala communities who fell during the Turkish invasion of 1974, the Spokesman added that the main issue is for Cyprus to emerge with an advantage.

Commissioner Photiou conveys governments readiness to resume negotiations for a Cyprus solution

Presidential Commissioner, Photis Photiou, underlined the government’s readiness to resume, at any time, the negotiations for a Cyprus settlement. Agriculture Minister to appeal for EU solidarity to face drought shortages

Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Minister, Costas Kadis, will try to gain the EU’s solidarity in finding ways and means to support Cyprus’ farmers overcome the challenges due to the continued drought. Kadis will attend on Monday the Agriculture and Fisheries Council, in Luxembourg. The Council will have an exchange of views on the EMFF, fisheries controls and the fishing opportunities for 2019. It will also discuss the post 2020 CAP reform package and the agricultural market situation.

Galatariotis leads tight ERC Cyprus field

Simos Galatariotis has moved into first place on his home round of the FIA European Rally Championship, leading the Cyprus Rally with Bruno Magalhaes and Nasser Al-Attiyah close behind.

Meanwhile, stage 10 of the Cyprus Rally has been interrupted following an incident involving a competing car and a car belonging to a member of the public, a Cyprus Rally press release said. There were no casualties and an investigation is under way to establish the circumstances.
