Cyprus, Greece and Israel ready to sign EastMed agreement, US also embrace the project

Leaders of Cyprus, Greece and Israel said on Thursday they were ready to proceed with an interstate agreement concerning the EastMed pipeline, following their trilateral deliberations in Beer Sheva. The United States of America also lend support to the project, as stated by their Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman.

Environment Minister discusses climate change at the EU28 Environment Ministers meeting

Climate change and the need for the EU to continue to be in the forefront of the international effort to address it, were discussed by the EU28 Environment Ministers meeting in Brussels, where Cyprus was represented by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment, Costas Kadis.

Migrants in Cyprus relocated through IOM programmes

Since January 2016 a total of 400 migrants in Cyprus were relocated and resettled through programmes offered by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Cyprus office. A press release issued by the IOM on Thursday says that this year 150 persons were offered assistance through the AVRR program (Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration).

Construction activity increases 20.7% in 2016

Construction activity registered an increase of 20.7% in 2016 compared to an increase of 0.2% in 2015, based on the production index of the sector. According to the annual report Construction and Housing Statistics, 2016 released Thursday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus, the production value of the construction sector increased in 2016 by 22.2% to Euros 2,146.9 million compared to Euros 1,756.9 million in 2015. The value added at current prices recorded an increase of 23.5%.

Industrial turnover presents significant increase in September

The Industrial Turnover Index reached 131.8 units (base 2015=100) in September 2018, recording a significant increase of 10.8% compared to September 2017, the Statistical Service announced on Thursday. It was the highest level ever recorded in the ninth month of the year over the last five years. Cystat said that between January � September 2018, the index showed an increase of 7.1% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
