UNSC calls on all parties in Cyprus to show real political will and make necessary compromises for a settlement

The United Nations Security Council has called on all parties in Cyprus to engage meaningfully with the UN consultations and to seize the opportunity they represent to urgently build on the progress achieved towards a Bizonal Bicommunal Federal solution to the Cyprus issue, in accordance with the Security Council resolutions. Members of the UN Security Council expressed support for the role of UNFICYP and the renewal of its mandate for a further six months during Tuesday’s deliberations at the Security Council, which was briefed by the SG’s Special Representative in Cyprus Elizabeth Spehar.

Government announces bond issuance through private placement

The Public Debt Management Office has announced the issuance of 5 government bonds for a total nominal amount of Euros 3,19 billion maturing between 5 to 53 months with private placement towards the Cyprus Cooperative Bank (CCB). It concerns bonds to be transferred to the Hellenic Bank in the framework of the agreement between the state-owned CCB and Hellenic.

Tourist arrivals increase by 8.2% in June 2018, registering a new record

Trips by residents of Cyprus abroad increase by 4.7% in June this year

On the basis of the results of the Passengers Survey, 115,450 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in June 2018 compared to 110,235 in the corresponding month last year, recording an increase of 4.7%, according to the Statistical Service of Cyprus.
