Powers to be distributed to constituent states a matter of dialogue, Presidents says

Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades, has said that the idea of the decentralisation of powers speaks for itself, and that it is a matter of dialogue to agree upon which powers will be distributed to each constituent state, in order for the two communities in Cyprus to feel safer and that one will not create problems for the other, in the context of a solution to the Cyprus problem. Presidents ultimate goal is a well prepared and quick resumption of Cyprus talks, Minister of Justice said on Sunday.

House Speakers initiative for Middle East countries cooperation forum

House of Representatives President Demetris Syllouris referred on Saturday to his initiative to establish a cooperation forum between parliaments of Middle Eastern countries.He was addressing an Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting of the preparatory committee for the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, which took place in Geneva, a House of Representatives press release issued on Saturday says.In his invervention Syllouris spoke of the importance of including a number of parliamentary assemblies which operate around the world within IPU.

European Commission to offer additional financial support for bicommunal Technical Committees projects

The European Commission is expected to offer additional financial support for the bicommunal Technical Committees in Cyprus with an additional funding of one million euros, CNA has learned.

According to CNA information, this amount of money will be distributed with a view to finance Technical Committees projects within a period of two years. This is an additional funding aiming to facilitate and support the Technical Committees, a source told CNA, replying to a question, noting that most of the funds used by the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage and other Technical Committees already come from the Commission.

7th World Government Summit underway in Dubai

The 7th World Government Summit dedicated to shaping the future of governments worldwide started on Sunday in Dubai. The Summit hosts representatives of governments and international organizations, Nobel laureates, thinkers, and experts from over 150 countries. Upon the invitation of the News Agency of the United Arab Emirates(WAM), a Cyprus News Agency delegation attends the Summit, headed by CNA Board Chairman Joseph Joseph and the Agency’s Director George Penintaex.

CNA signs News Agencies’ Tolerance Charter at Dubai World Government Summit

The Cyprus News Agency is among the signatories of the News Agencies’ Tolerance Charter, adopted by news agencies’ representatives participating at the World Government Summit 2019 in a bid to highlight coexistence and tolerance. The charter, consisting of six principles, was signed on Sunday by CNA Director George Penintaex, in Dubai.
