US Assistant Secretary to also visit Nicosia

The US State Department announced that Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Francis R. Fannon will travel to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, Nicosia, and Cairo from November 11 to 20, 2018. During his trip, Assistant Secretary Fannon will be meeting with government officials and private sector representatives to discuss energy security and regional cooperation on energy issues, the State Department said in a press release.

USA attributes particular importance to Cyprus and Greece, FM says

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, estimated that the new US administration is particularly interested in the region of Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkan Peninsula. In this context, he added, Greece and Cyprus represent for the USA two important countries, capable to address the challenges emerging in the region through specific collaborations.

Trade Minister calls for promotion of Cyprus interests in EU trade agreements

Cyprus wants to see its own interests being promoted through trade agreements negotiated by the EU with third countries at this time, and in particular with regard to dairy, pharmaceuticals, services and shipping, said in Brussels Minister for Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism George Lakkotrypis. He took part at the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC – Trade) held in Trade Ministers format.

UNDP: Road works at Lefka and Deryneia crossing points completed

The EU-funded and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) implemented road works in Lefka and Deryneia are now completed, UNDP announced on Friday. The crossings in Lefka and Deryneia will be respectively the fourth and fifth crossings funded by the European Union. Both crossings are set to open next Monday.

Trade deficit decreases by Euros 314 million in January – August 2018

Trade deficit in the period January – August 2018 decreased by Euros 314 million compared to the corresponding period of 2017. According to a publication by the Statistical Service of Cyprus trade deficit was Euros 2,649.8 mn in January-August 2018 compared to Euros 2,963.8 mn in the corresponding period of 2017.

Building permits significantly increase in January � August 2018

Building permits authorized by the municipal authorities and the district administration offices increase by 342 during the period January � August 2018, according to data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus. The total value of these permits increased by 46.8% and the total area by 30.3%. ?he number of dwelling units recorded an increase of 28.6%.
