A total of 275 bounced or dishonoured cheques, amounting to Euros 0.4 million, were issued in the first quarter of 2017, according to data released on Tuesday by the Central Bank of Cyprus.
A total of 100 dishonoured cheques were issued in March, compared with 72 cheques in February and 86 in March of 2016.
According to the CBC, a total of 42 persons, 27 natural persons and 15 companies, have been placed in the preliminary Central Information Registry of the CBC.
For the three months ending in 31 March, a total of 128 persons (68 natural and 60 companies) have been placed in the registry.
Furthermore, in March 34 persons, (15 natural, 9 companies and ten persons who control companies), have been placed in the dishonoured cheques registry.
During the first quarter of 2017, a total of 11 persons (34 companies, 32 persons and 45 persons controlling companies) have been placed in the CBCs registry.
