Balance that keeps society open should not be disturbed, says epidemiologist

The balance by which we are keeping society open should not be disturbed, member of the advisory scientific committee of experts on COVID-19 and Pediatrics Lecturer at European University Cyprus Zoi Dorothea Pana has told CNA, adding that the discussion for possible relaxation of measures should take into account the fact that we are still amid a pandemic wave with consistently increased inpatient indicators in hospitals.

Pana told CNA that during the meeting of the advisory committee on Tuesday “we are at a point where we may need to review the protocols, the regular laboratory testing and generally the way in which Cyprus is functioning through the safety net that we need to have, given that we are still in a pandemic wave”.

The aim is for an overall discussion and see what can be simplified and how the people that have been most affected can be helped, sh
