Archbishop Chrysostomos II was a great clergyman, Ecumenical Patriarch says

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew said on Saturday that he visited Cyprus for the first time to bid farewell to his friend, Archbishop Chrysostomos II, whom he described as a great clergyman.

Speaking during Chrysostomos’ funeral in Nicosia, Bartholomew said that he was a “courageous soldier of the Church” and managed the religious issues in a wise and prudent way.

The Ecumenical Patriarch commended Chrysostomos for the support and help that he offered to those in need, the young people and for his efforts as regards the religious, cultural and historic heritage of Cyprus.

Moreover, he said that Archbishop Chrysostomos II stood by the church of Constantinople with courage.

He also recalled Chrysostomos’ visits to the seat for the Ecumenical Patriarchate and described him as a great clergyman.
