Announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the suspension of diplomatic relations of five countries with Qatar

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the situation developing, due to the fact that Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Egypt and the Maldives have suspended diplomatic ties with Qatar, on June 4th, 2017.

On June 5th, 2017 Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Bahrain announced further restrictions on travel and residence affecting Qatari nationals. These restrictions do not apply to Cypriot nationals.

It is expected that there will be severe disruption of movement and partial or full closure of air, naval and border crossings from these countries into and from Qatar. The Ministry advises Cypriot nationals to directly contact airlines or tour operators for further information.
