Angolan Foreign Minister Georges Chikoti leave here for Niamey Friday to attend the inauguration of Niger’s president-elect, Mahamadou Issoufou.
Chikoti will be representing Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos at the swearing-in ceremony on Saturday, according to a statement issued here Thursday.
The invitation for President dos Santos to attend the swearing-in of the Nigerien president-elect had been delivered by Niger’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Co-operation and African Integration, Khaine Aichatou Boulama, during a recent visit to Angola.
Mohamadou Issofou, 64, was elected with 92.49 per cent of the votes in a run-off election on March 19 this year.
Angola and Niger enjoy relations of friendship and political co-operation, the statement noted.
