President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades has called for the necessary conditions that will allow the dialogue on Cyprus to resume on the basis of good will and constructive stance from all stakeholders, particularly by the Turkish side, in order to safeguard the positive outcome of the negotiations.

The president made the remark while receiving the credentials of the Ambassadress of the Republic of El Salvador , Sandra Elizabeth Alas Guidos during a formal ceremony held at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday.

Presenting her credentials the Ambassadress, speaking in Spanish, reaffirmed the excellent diplomatic relations between the countries and the commitment to continue promoting issues of mutual interest.

She further said that El Salvador’s foreign policy prioritizes the strengthening of relations of solidarity, respect and cooperation among the two countries and will continue working together for the common good.

President Anastasiades noted the friendly relations that exist between the two countries and peoples. He expressed the Government’s readiness to work closely with the new ambassador, in order to explore new fields of beneficial partnership, as well as enhancing existing ones, for the mutual benefit of our two countries and peoples.

Moreover, Cyprus and El Salvador guided by their commitment to effective multilateralism, cooperate constructively in international fora and enjoy a good record of reciprocal support in this context.

Cyprus, he said, values its friendly relations with El Salvador which it views also through the prism of EU – Central America relations and will continue to support the strengthening of this dialogue and cooperation.

On the political front, President Anastasiades said he truly wishes that both our Turkish Cypriots compatriots and Turkey will respond positively to the new prospect that is unfolding again upon us, taking into account, in a comprehensive manner and without being selective, the provisions set by the Secretary-General at the Conference in Crans-Montana.

At the same time, he added, it is fundamental, for them to not insist on provisions which would adversely affect the sovereignty and independence of a united Cyprus and would establish a dysfunctional federal state.

Concluding, he conveyed to the President of El Salvador, Salvador Sanchez Ceren, his warmest greetings, and a message of sincere friendship and solidarity to the people of El Salvador.
