Anastasiades – Tsipras agree good preparation for a new Cyprus conference is necessary

President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, met on Thursday on the margins of the European Council Summit in Brussels and they agreed that a good preparation of a new conference on Cyprus is necessary.

According to the Deputy Government Spokesman, Viktoras Papadopoulos the Prime Minister briefed the President on the talks he recently had in Athens with Turkish President TayipErdogan.

Deputy Spokesman told the press that President of the Republic expressed his satisfaction on the principled positions the Greek Premier conveyed to the Turkish President, as regards the international aspect of the Cyprus problem.

As Deputy Spokesman has stated, during the meeting Anastasiades and Tsipras agreed to be in constant contact and co-ordination for further steps.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. Efforts to solve the Cyprus problem, with the latest being talks in Crans Montana, Switzerland, have not led to a solution.
