Anastasiades – Malas face each other during televised debate four days before second round of elections

The two contestants in the second round of the Cyprus presidential elections, incumbent President Nicos Anastasiades, who is backed by right-wing Democratic Rally, and Stavros Malas, who is backed by left-wing AKEL, will be facing each other on Wednesday, during a televised debate, just four days before the second round of the elections. During last Sunday’s first round of the elections, Anastasiades garnered 35.5%, while Mala, secured 30.25%.

The debate will be hosted at CyBCs premises in Nicosia and will start at 2030 local time (1830). It is scheduled to last for two hours during which the Directors of CyBC, Antena, TV One and Sigma news departments will ask questions. The debate will be liaised by Alphas Director.

The debate arrangements were agreed during a series of meetings between the TV channels and representatives of the two candidates.

The discussion will consist of two rounds. One will focus on the Cyprus problem, the foreign policy and energy matters, and the other on the economy and internal governance.
