Anastasiades expresses Cyprus’ full support to the Finnish EU Presidency

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has expressed Cyprus full support to the Finnish EU Presidency, during the second half of 2019.

Anastasiades who had on Sunday, at the Presidential Palace a private meeting and a working lunch with the Finish Prime Minister Juha SipilA�, in view of the Finnish EU Presidency, said in a post on his twitter account that “it is indeed a great pleasure to welcome today in Cyprus, PM of Finland Juha SipilA�. ? would like to express our full support to the Finnish Presidency which we believe identifies accurately our Union’s policy priorities and addresses our common challenges.”

In statements to the media, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou said that the Finnish EU Presidency priorities were the focus of the discussions between Anastasiades and SipilA�.

Prodromou noted that they also discussed about the two countries bilateral relations and prospects for futher expanding and deepening these relations.

He noted that President Anastasiades informed the Finnish PM about all the spectrum of trilateral cooperation schemes that the Republic of Cyprus has been developing in the region and their usefulness for the relations of the EU with countries in the region, about issues related to the energy sector etc.

The spokesman said that main issues during the two leaders discussions were the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework, the internal market, the Monetary Union and the migration issue.

Moreover he said that they particularly discussed about the start-ups sector and cooperation in the field.
