Ambassador of Cyprus to Turkmenistan presents his credentials

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Turkmenistan, Dr Kypros Giorgallis, presented his credentials on Tuesday. The credentials and supporting documentation were received, as is typical, on behalf of the President of the country, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, by the Speaker of the Parliament, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says.

Conveying the greetings of the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, Dr. Giorgallis expressed the readiness and commitment of the President of the Republic to strengthen and deepen the relations and cooperation of the two countries both on a bilateral level, as well as in the context of the relations of the European Union with Turkmenistan.

It is noted that the Speaker of the Parliament, on behalf of the State, returned the warm greetings to the President of the Republic and congratulated Dr. Giorgallis for his accreditation. At the same time, she conveyed wishes for the success of the efforts towards the further strengthening of the bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries.

In a meeting held after the official credentials ceremony, the President of the Parliament informed the Cypriot Ambassador about the country’s foreign and domestic policy priorities. Particular emphasis was placed on the analysis of the regime of permanent neutrality, which pervades the foreign policy of Turkmenistan.

Dr. Giorgallis informed the Speaker about the latest developments regarding the Cyprus issue, as well as the efforts of the puppet regime in the Turkish-occupied areas of Cyprus to promote its secessionist aspirations within the framework of the Organisation of Turkic States in violation of international legality.

At the same time, he submitted suggestions for the establishment of thebilateral cooperation between Cyprus and Turkmenistan, outlining sectors that the two countries wish to jointly promote, such as education, energy and political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the press release concludes.
