A total of 662 new COVID-19 cases traced on Friday, no deaths reported, 138 patients in hospital

A total of 662 new COVID-19 cases were traced on Friday, according to Cyprus Health Ministry, with the number of cases rising up to 140,030. The positivity rate stands at 0.71%. No deaths were recorded and therefore the number of COVID-19 patients who have passed away remains 607.

Moreover, 138 COVID-19 patients are treated in hospital, of whom 47 in a critical condition. A percentage of 78.25% of those hospitalised have not been vaccinated.

Five post-COVID patients who have ceased to be contagious continue to be treated in a critical condition in an Intensive Treatment Unit, due to to COVID, and are intubated.

A total of 93,840 tests were carried out using the PCR method (9,817) and antigen rapid tests (84,023).

Out of the 607 patients who have died 389 are men (64.1%), and 218 are women (35.9%). Their median age is 75.8 year
