A total of 284 new COVID-19 cases announced on Monday, no deaths recorded, 67 patients hospitalized

Cyprus Health Ministry announced on Monday 284 new COVID-19 cases which bring the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 126,231. The positivity rate stands at 0.42%.

 

No deaths were recorded and therefore the number of COVID-19 patients who have died remains 576. Sixty-seven COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 22 of them in a critical condition. A percentage of 65.68% of those hospitalized have not been vaccinated.

 

One post – COVID patients who ceased to be contagious continues to be treated at a critical condition in an Intensive Care Unit and is intubated.

 

A total of 67,349 tests were carried out using the PCR method (4,474) and antigen rapid tests (62,875).

 

Out of the 576 patients who have died 368 are men (64%) and 208 are women (36%). Their median age is 76.1 years old.

 

Eight of the 22 patients who are hospitalized and their condition is critical are intubated, one is treated in an Intensive Care Unit but is not intubated and 13 in an Increased Care Unit.

 

The new 284 COVID-19 cases were traced as follows: 30 cases out of 423 samples taken during contact tracing, 4 cases out of 1,665 samples taken by passengers at Larnaca and Paphos airports, 44 cases out of 1,759 samples taken at the private initiative, 3 cases out of 340 samples taken after referrals by Personal Doctors, 149 cases out of 40,318 samples tested using antigen rapid tests at private clinical labs and pharmacies and 54 cases out of 22,557 samples tested using antigen rapid tests, through the Health Ministry`s programme.
