A Cyprus solution should provide withdrawal of Turkish troops and abolishing guarantees, says Greek Defence Minister

Greece will stand by Cyprus until a solution to the Cyprus problem is found that will provide for the withdrawal of the Turkish troops and abolishing guarantees, Greek National Defence Minister Panos Kammenos reassured on Saturday.

Speaking after the military parade, in Nicosia, marking the 56th anniversary since the declaration of Cyprus Independence, Kammenos stressed that Cyprus is an independent state that remains under occupation, and as long as this situation continues, Greece will be here to ensure that any solution will provide for the withdrawal of the Turkish troops.

He added that Cyprus as a modern European state is not in a need of mediators and guarantors, stressing once again that the solution of the Cyprus problem should provide the withdrawal of the Turkish troops and abolishing guarantees.
